DOLLS FOR XMAS ....NOT SASHA

For quite a few years now i have been admiring schildkroet dolls from germany, the problem was though that they are mainly only available in germany and the sellers either didnt take paypal or wouldnt post to the uk ...anyway then i realised that they made reproductions of the original dolls and in my eyes they look exactly the same but this may be like saying an 80s sasha looks the same as an NP....i first saw the repro boy in the green cardi for sale on ebay uk, he was really cheap and i was the only bidder, the repro boy in the hat came next, i was a bit cross as he had a sister in another auction, they both finished early in the morning so i placed a bid before i went to bed , only to find id been outbid on his sister by £1...anyway these were a christmas pressie for me from me ...

Then this beautiful kathe kruse doll from a very kind generous friend, ive often looked at them but decided not to go down that expensive road as im not too good at having one of anything ....i dont know what year she may be from and shes had some expert repairs along the way ...i think shes gorgeous ....i also got a lovely knitted cardi and hat for my course doll from another kind friend  but ive not yet had time for photos ....

ANOTHER PRETTY GIRLY ....

When i bought this girl i knew her hair was dry and very sparse on top, i had lots of options of how to improve her but i couldnt decide what to do for the best so i offered her for sale here....she didnt find a new home so i decided to reroot the sparse top of her head and then bob her hair..ive added a clip as a temporary measure while i train the hair to stay over to the side .....i think its a great improvement, it was a bit of a pain as i didnt want to take her neck plug out as i didnt want to break it so i pushed it into the head with the elastic and had to carefully reroot around it but then when i was putting her back together her rust marked elastic snapped , so i had to get the neck plug out anyway and restring her ....so now im thinking she could be a new model for me .....today shes wearing a lovely pinestreet studio dress and rosie bloom shoes ...

PRETTY REROOT

This pretty girl is off to her new home for christmas, here in cornwall the weather has been damp and dark for ages so theyre not the greatest of photos and she does look prettier in real life .....
after i finished rerooting her, i washed and cut her hair and the next day was choosing what colour dress i would make her when i noticed that her nose was purple ! when i reroot i have the head in my lap, i allways wear black and have never had a problem before but this time the dye from one of my dresses must have got on her nose ...so i used oxy to remove it and all was well....but then a few days later when i went to take photos , i noticed her nose was now paler than the rest of her face !...i was so upset and all i could do was wait to see if the colour returned,...these photos were taken a week later and as you can see her nose is now the perfect colour !....phew !!!!!...for future reroots i think a white towel in my lap will be the way to go ....

COURSE DOLL.....

This little girly arrived at my house yesterday, ive never really liked course dolls before but then i saw them in real life at dees chat n snap and i loved all of them.....
straight away i wanted to make her some new clothes, i had an idea of what sort of dress i want her to wear but it would take time to make a pattern and get it right so as i needed instant clothes, so  i made a rather badly made but effective outfit ....
i first made the shoes out of very thin suede, i couldnt use proper leather as it involved a back seam and my machine wouldnt cope with that thickness of leather, this is the 3rd pattern i made, they fit well but i think the upper could be a bit deeper ...
then i made the top, ive never sewn knits before so found it a bit odd, i didnt make a pattern, i just ,measured her body across and then measured the length i wanted it to be, then cut 2 rectangles, then i cut 2 rectangles for the sleeves, sewed it all together and added a band for the neck but id forgotten id have to get it on and had to cut up the back and add popper closure, having to do this has made it more fitted than i wanted ...
then a simple gathered skirt, i wish the jumper was shorter so you could see more skirt, i didnt over stitch anything, i left raw edges everywhere which completely goes against my ocd when it comes to sewing ...
i did make her a beanie hat but decided a girl of her era wouldnt have worn one so made a beret instead ...
lastly just to break up the sameness of colour of the beret and jumper, i cut a length of wool fabric for a make do scarf ....
so as ive explained all very bodged together !

ive only got a sasha sized doll stand which doesnt work for her but its all ive got to enable her to stand, so shes stood at an odd angle......i then remembered i have a perfect sized rocking chair ...apologies for the rather green patio but inside my house is just too dark for photos ....

CHAT n SNAP CLOTHING ....

I thought i would show photos of the clothes i made for Dees sasha day ....youve already seen all the coats in another post...some of these photos look really awfull, just totally washed out and not the right colours at all , i printed the photos out to include with the outfits so people could see what they would look like on a doll so i suppose it didnt matter that the colours didnt show quite right.....theres rather alot of photos !! xxx
