mmmm.

esme this week has been away with school in paris, the teachers just phoned to say theyre delayed getting back and wont arrive till one in the morning so im bored waiting and thought id post this ....yesterday i had a very "sasha day" busy doing all sorts , i started a new reroot and i also decided to tackle my redhead boys eyes again, ive lost count of how many times ive tried to paint them but thought id show my latest effort and maybe someone can point out where im going wrong , im not fishing for compliments ! i think maybe i need to be a bit freer with the brushstrokes as its all too precise ?....anyway, once ive got my mind on doing something theres no stopping me , not having a paintbrush or any brown paint didnt deter me , i ended up washing my liquid eyeliner brush which was the perfect size and mixing the colours of paint esme had to make brown ....so here he is the poor lad with his rather severe eyes , this is about the best ive done but im sure ill have another go soon :) ....

this photo is the worst, looks  harsher than the others ...also looks a bit mucky round the eyebrows (lol)

    1. thanks dee ...i know exactly what you mean , only problem is i cant seem to "flow" and i cant do things lightly either , i can only seem to do bold or not at all.....i shall try another time when i get the urge :) xxxxxx

  2. I think you are very close Sarah. The eyes are strong and interesting. They have depth and are very nice. I put my hand over the brows and liked it better. Is it possible to try different brows as an experiment? Just a thought and I like your boy a lot! Thank you for sharing. :) xxx

    1. thanks ginger for your constructive , very polite comment ! ....maybe i will try new brows but i think it all needs to be done with a "lighter hand"...i used to spend alot of time painting but everything i did was dramatic , i always used bold colours , heavy lines and lots of black, i could never do anything "wishy washy" and could never master watercolours ....so maybe thats why i cant do this as it goes against the whole way i paint ...its just so frustrating that i cant do it !!!!!!!!! xxxx

    3. i cant really do much tweaking, i think the only thing to do is take it all off and start again....one day im sure he'll have lovely eyes , hes had dodgy ones for about 6 yrs so im sure he wont mind waiting a bit longer :) xxxx

I would leave him as he is Sarah. I love his crude saucer eyed look. He doesn't need pretty eyes, his a boy!!!!xxxxxxx

  4. Just seen this, after seeing his third repaint. Though I like the other one better, this makes him look like a very determined young man. Definitely like him with brown eyes.
As long as nobody laughs at him, he's suffered enough! I'll put my first ever repaint effort up - another red-haired boy. My husband calls him Confused-dot-com because that's how he looks, poor chap.
He's on my trip to a professional eye doctor list!

    1. this one in real life he didnt look so determined and startled but the camera seems to magnify everything ....i think less is more when painting buts its hard to leave alone and think enoughs enough...at least i kind of got there in the end ...looking forward to seeing yours :0 xxxx
