DOLLS FOR XMAS ....NOT SASHA

For quite a few years now i have been admiring schildkroet dolls from germany, the problem was though that they are mainly only available in germany and the sellers either didnt take paypal or wouldnt post to the uk ...anyway then i realised that they made reproductions of the original dolls and in my eyes they look exactly the same but this may be like saying an 80s sasha looks the same as an NP....i first saw the repro boy in the green cardi for sale on ebay uk, he was really cheap and i was the only bidder, the repro boy in the hat came next, i was a bit cross as he had a sister in another auction, they both finished early in the morning so i placed a bid before i went to bed , only to find id been outbid on his sister by £1...anyway these were a christmas pressie for me from me ...

Then this beautiful kathe kruse doll from a very kind generous friend, ive often looked at them but decided not to go down that expensive road as im not too good at having one of anything ....i dont know what year she may be from and shes had some expert repairs along the way ...i think shes gorgeous ....i also got a lovely knitted cardi and hat for my course doll from another kind friend  but ive not yet had time for photos ....

  4. Thanks for sharig. There are lovely.
I'm not good in dating Kaethe Kruse, but usually they are signed under their foot (if readable)

    You know the Puppen-Uni-Wien?
Its a german Dolls-Forum, were real experts are posting. You can ask for her age there!
If you want me to translate, just let me know.

  5. The boys are just adorable and lovely to collect! I love Kruse dolls and have been collecting them for some time now. I am so attracted to their beautiful faces and I collected cloth dolls, to include Kruse dolls, before Sasha dolls were known to me. Thank goodness I stumbled upon my Gwennie that opened the Sasha world for me. :)

There are excellent Kruse books available plus the factory is still open which is nice too. Your girl is lovely and congratulations on adding her to your doll collection. What a wonderful friend you have! :) xxx

    1. thanks ginger, I love cloth dolls too but tend not to look any more as I get too tempted and really don't have any room left in my sewing room, maybe one day if I get a bigger house, I can start looking again xxxx

    1. thanks Lorraine ...I was surprised at how light weight those schildkrot dolls are, to me they looked like theyd be chunky and heavy but there made from something quite delicate that feels like it could easily crack, so ill have to be carefull with them xxxxx

  7. I had such turtleneck dolls as a child (Kaethe Kruse was too expensive) - those were the typical children dolls in Germany. The reproductions are very well done - I mean, with the original molds. The vintage dolls were made from very fragile celluloid - later and also today they are made from tortulon - also very light, but not fragile. Very nice christmas presents :-)))

    2. thanks renate, I think the turtlemark dolls are really sweet, i think they also made celluloid kathe kruse for a while too, ive been looking at them but far too expensive , these boys I have only cost £25 each which I think is a good price compared to lots I have seen...maybe one day I will have a girl too xxxx
