In my eyes this girl is the most beautiful girl ive ever seen and i feel very lucky to have her, she looks totally different to all my other saucer eyes, her eyes are loads bigger, i tried to do a close up of her eyes but it didnt turn out too well, the lady who she originally lived with said her eyes were done much in the style of the early crude eyed gotz boys......ive just looked through all the photos i took today and couldnt decide on which to use so ive added a few......
There will be some new sewing soon but i need esme to get back to school untill i can really get in the swing of things again, ive made a few outfits but i want to make a few more before i list them , in the meantime ive been busy, ive done done yet another reroot who looks really sweet and now i just need to make some clothes for her to model and yesterday i wallpapered part of esmes room, ...warning ....if youve never wallpapered before dont try ! i got myself in a right state, covered in glue and paper, the end result is ok but esme says it looks quite scruffy , i didnt think it was too bad for a first attempt but if a 10yr old thinks it looks scruffy i cant have done that good a job !........
Just a thought on these saucer eyed girls, ive been sorting out lots of my stuff that i collect and i found this picture by dallas simpson, these were all the rage in the 60s and they were called wide eyed children, im wondering if they were trying to create this new fashionable commercial look with the saucer eyes before sasha put her foot down and put a stop to it ?
Oh she is stunning Sarah! I have never seen a girl like this before, I have to agree with you, I think she is absolutely beautiful & she looks adorable in her sweet little dress and red sandals, many congrats to you on this beauty! love Cathy x
ReplyDeletecathy i thought you would like her, i wish you could see her in real life as she looks even nicer !.....sarah x
DeleteFab-ul-ous indeed and I think that you're right in saying that her eyes are very similar to the Gotz boys crude eyed style painting. Lucky, lucky you.
ReplyDeleteYou're getting quite a collection now of these 'saucer -eyed' eye style girls.
Love the little air ballooon material outfit and red sandals.
Sorry to hear about your first attempt at wallpapering but I'm sure that it isn't anywhere near as bad as Esme makes out given your artistic and DIY activities.
Sasha love from Kendal.
kendal yes , i do feel so lucky to have her and like i said to cathy i wish you could see her in real life, maybe one day !....the dress is a rejct, it suits her really well but the fabric was too thick for such a dainty dress.....sarah x
DeleteOh dear out of the mouth of babes, Esme obviously hasn't learnt the art of subtlety yet!
ReplyDeleteYour girl is really fabulous, and her eyes are wonderful, she looks so cute in her little dress and red shoes as well.
well i did the paper as as suprise while esme was at a friends, she had wanted me to but had the shock of her life when she actually saw the whole wall done as its black, with silver reeds and big very real looking bright orange fish all over....today though she thinks its better and she is chuffed as her bedroom now looks like its for a 17 year old....not sure how she came to that conclusion but at least shes happier .....sarah x
DeleteThose eyes Sarah....I'll be having nightmares tonight :)
ReplyDeleteYou know me and those saucer eyed girls........:) :)
Well done on the wallpapering! I haven't wallpapered for years - with so many dogs it is easier to have the walls just painted which I enjoy doing and must redo my kitchen when the weather warms up!!
oh ronny, i felt sure even YOU would like her !, i bet you do though ever so slightly (so slightly you dont even realise ! lol)......sarah x
Delete:) :) Oh Sarah! Hand on heart I can safely say she would definitely find herself on Shelly's site in the morning!! But I am so glad she has made you happy and that you love her.
DeletePS..next time you feature her on your blog could you make a tiny pillowcase and pop it over her head for me :) :)
For a saucer eyed girl she looks lovely, from a distance...Lol
ReplyDeleteNo she's lovely I like her pale skin but the eye's are something I am still getting used to!
lucky for the wall and me , Paul does all the wallpapering, I will help with the painting and I have got better at that, year's back I would only paint from standing on the floor and as high as my arms could reach and I am one 5ft 2 with not very long arms!! used to drive Paul nuts.. so much he stopped me helping.... ;)
well i can safely say i will never wallpaper again....all the bubbles have disappeared today but i over lapped it ever so slightly so it doesnt look right, rich said i should have easily slid it together but i did try doing that and tore the whole piece as it was stuck fast to the wall....i did point out if he was such an expert he should have done it himself (turns out he helped his mum once ) , well at least esmes happy today and thats all that matters !....sarah x
DeleteFunny how these men can tell you how you are supposed to do it after it's done!
DeleteAs long as Esme's happy that all that matters and at least you had a go!
Dee x
I think she is lovely Sarah...what a beauty !! she is with the right person who loves her dearly I am sure,if you ever sell her (and I know already you wont ha ha) I am here....AND well done with the wallpapering,I have done it but with Hubby Geoff's help but I don't like it,its the lining the next piece up that gets me,I always overlap ! which gets on his nerves ha ha..
ReplyDeleteSarah, i love her! I think she is so pretty and so much better looking than you was trying to describe on the phone, lol. Her eyes are so similar to Kendal's pale skinned Gotz crude eyed boy (which i love also).
ReplyDeleteTake Ronny's and my advice, get some nice lineing paper up and then paint the walls, then if you get sick of the colour you just have to paint over it, lol.
Love Steve XXXX
I think she looks just like a real little girl. She has character and a very definite expression which I find very endearing. The saucer-eyed girls remind me of my granddaughter Iona. They don't look altogether 'happy' - a bit wistful. I like that! I wished I had one of those!!! As to Esme - she just has to grow up a couple of years and then she will be so glad the wallpaper is not altogether too neat and perfect! Trust me! xxx Karin
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah I'm having a super trip down memory lane here today, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI remember this style of painting ... I am sure I have old birthday cards somewhere and lots of them are in this style .. showing my age here - lol. Thanks for the name of the artist, I think you might be onto something about the saucer eyed dolls being made to resemble these wide eyed children, very interesting, thanks, hugs Cathy x
